Is every piece of software licensed the same way?
No. User-, device-, subscription- and company-based models all differ. The tracking structure follows the product's licence terms; the vendor agreement takes precedence.
How is a license inventory built?
Installed software, purchase records and subscription accounts are compared. For each product, the license type, quantity, assigned user or device and expiry date are collected in one table.
How do we avoid missing renewals?
License expiry dates are kept in the platform and upcoming renewals are flagged in advance, so unused licenses are not renewed and nobody works with an expired license.
